Solo Travel in California: Are RVs a Good Option?

If you are considering travelling around California and you’d like to rent a vehicle instead of planning bus trips, RVs can be an excellent option. When you think of an RV, most people picture a massive vehicle complete with a fully equipped kitchen, sleeping quarters and a toilet. But, there are different grades of RVs, and some are made for smaller parties such as the mini RV.

Although RVs can be expensive to rent, they are generally the larger models which house a considerable number of people. They come with all the latest modifications and are perfect for big families or sizeable parties going on vacation. But, you can also get a mini RV for rent, instead of the larger camper rentals you may have seen on the market.

Most RVs come fully equipped, even small RV rentals come with accessories such as:

  • Fridge
  • Sleeping area for up to 7 occupants
  • Cooker
  • Kitchen sink
  • Entertainment system

You won’t have to pay for accommodation as your mini camper rental comes equipped with a double bed, perfect for getting a good night’s sleep after a long day of sightseeing. You can venture into any national park along the way and park up in the campsite. If you’re planning on getting an RV rental in Las Vegas and driving it around the Grand Canyon and Yosemite, you’ll come across a wide range of campsites where you can easily park your vehicle and sleep for the night at an affordable price.

Outdoor Campsites

The best thing about renting a small RV is that you can pull up almost anywhere and sleep for the night. You’ve so much freedom with these types of vehicles and it is easy to see why they are so popular with solo travellers roaming across America. There is an abundance of national parks and RV parks where you can pay to stay for the night, they have incredible amenities on-site, so you won’t be stuck for anything. Prices vary between parks and it is a good idea to call ahead if you don’t want to pay for expensive camping sites.

Larger RVs can be difficult to manoeuvre, especially when parking in tight areas or driving along winding roads, but as a solo traveller you’ll be renting a mini RV. These are considerably smaller and a lot easier to handle in comparison to their bigger brothers. Driving a small RV, is like driving a car, once you’ve experience with the latter, you’ll be fine controlling a mini recreational vehicle.

Overall, mini RVs are an excellent option for solo travellers. They allow you to travel in peace, not having to worry about overcrowded buses or packed trains. You can make friends along the way at RV parks if you wish to do so, and they contain essential household appliances like stoves and fridges. They are the perfect, self-contained solo travelling vehicle.
