Do You Need to Replace the Windscreen for Your Van

If you are driving a commercial vehicle such as a van, you do not want anything to distract you whilst you are driving on the roads. Any time that there is a crack in your windscreen, you cannot procrastinate about making a repair. Therefore, a commercial windscreen repair is in order if your windscreen is cracked or is causing you visual problems.

It certainly can hamper your business operations if your van has a crack running across the windscreen. Even the smallest chip can present a problem and compromise the structural integrity and safety of your vehicle.

A Major Repair

Usually, before a van window fitting in Belper is requested, the customer complains about a small rock chip. However, that overlooked chip turns into a large crack before he or she knows it. That is because changes in the air pressure and temperature cause a chip to become transformed. In turn, what once was a chip spiderwebs into a major repair.

Whilst it is the easiest to repair a small chip, most business owners let the matter go until they have to replace the windscreen instead. Obviously, this is not your preferred option. However, people tend to wait it out, thinking that the chip will remain a chip.

To avoid a new window fitting, it is always important to take care of small repairs such as rock chips right away. If the chip is minor, all you need to do is have a sealant placed on the defect and wait for it to cure. Usually, it takes about a day to have this type of repair made.

Once the crack emerges, you need to schedule a new windscreen fitting. The windscreen is designed to break in a specific way so that shards of glass do not form. However, if a windscreen is damaged, it may make the glass shatter, causing a good deal of injury.

Never Procrastinate

If your windscreen features a large and pervasive crack, now, not later, is the time to have the matter addressed. The sooner you take care of the problem, the better it will be for you and your employees. If you have the safety of others at stake, you should always handle any glass damage right away.

To determine the extent of the problem, you need to look at the chip or crack and measure it. A chip that is larger than a five-pence piece or a crack that is longer than 2.5 centimetres is beyond the state of a simple repair. In these cases, you need to have the glass replaced.

However, you also have to consider the location. If the crack or chip is getting in the way of the driver’s line of vision, it does not matter if it is smaller. A new windscreen will need to be fitted and installed.
