Trucks Vs Cars – Which One is Right For You?

Trucks Vs cars: it’s a difficult choice. Dealerships are full of different models of trucks and cars, and unless you have a clear idea of what you are looking for, it can be nigh on impossible to make a final decision. To make it nice and easy for you, we have come up with a few useful reasons why a truck is better than a car, and vice versa.

Weather Issues

Depending on where in the world you live, the weather can vary a great deal between different seasons. In Canada and northern US states such as Vermont and Michigan, winters can be very harsh with a great deal of snow to contend with. In this instance, you will have fewer problems on the road if your vehicle is a robust four-wheel drive truck as opposed to a family saloon. However, in warmer, drier climates, a car will do just fine, so bear this in mind before making a final decision.

Comfort and Style

How important are looks to you? Cars are very subjective and one person’s dream car is another person’s nightmare. Generic family saloons and SUVs are perfectly suited to wide swathes of the population, but not everyone wants to drive around in a car 99.9% of the population own. If you prefer to stand out on the road, a big hulking truck might be more your style.

The Environment Matters

Diesel engines pump out a lot of carbon into the atmosphere, and since most trucks have diesel engines, they are not very environmentally friendly. If you want to do your bit for the environment, an eco car is probably a better choice.

Utility Vehicle

Trucks are multi-purpose vehicles. They are great for small business owners as anything can be loaded into the back of a flat bed truck, including machinery and equipment. A u-pol raptor bed liner will protect your truck from wear and tear, but if you try and pile lots of machinery and tools into the back seat or trunk of your car, it will suffer. Basically, cars are not designed to carry heavy loads whereas trucks are capable of carrying heavy, bulky equipment. So if you run a business and you need to transport equipment from A to B, invest in a truck not a car.

Tow Truck

It is possible to tow a large trailer or caravan using a car (as long as it is heavy enough), but it can place a lot of wear and tear on the vehicle, particularly if you are towing long distances or up steep hills. Trucks, on the other hand, are heavy-duty enough to tow large loads without breaking into a sweat. Therefore, if you need to tow loads regularly, a truck will be a better option.

Cost Issues

Generally speaking, a truck will cost more to buy than a car. The running costs will also be higher, so if cost is a big issue for you, a car might be a better investment right now.

Before buying any vehicle, make sure you can afford the repayments and have it checked over by a trusted mechanic to ensure it is sound.
